Buy the Tie Dress No. 2 sewing pattern from Sewing Therapy. As with the original bestselling Tie Dress, the signature ties at the waist allow you to choose between a snug fit or a relaxed one, and can be fastened at the front, back, or sides for a personalised look.
Building on the beloved versatility of the original, this version features two sleeve options for seasonal flexibility. Choose the short ruffle sleeve for warmer days, or the elasticised long sleeve for cooler weather. There are two bodice styles – a classic button front or a wrap front – and the addition of a tiered skirt with a ruffled hem adds volume and playful movement. The dress can also be worn with the buttons or wrap at the front or back.
Whether you prefer cute and romantic or elegant and sophisticated, mix and match options to create a dress that is uniquely yours.

Suggested fabrics: Linen or linen blends, cotton lawn or voile, rayon or viscose, tencel (lyocell), double gauze, lightweight flannel. Since this pattern features ruffles and soft gathering, fabrics with a gentle drape work best, while overly stiff or crisp fabrics may not achieve the intended silhouette.
Fabric requirements: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 3.5 - 4.5 yd (3.5 - 4.5 m).
Sizing: US 0 – 24 (approx. UK 6 – 24/26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.
The midi length is designed to fall between the calf and ankle while the knee length is designed to reach just below the knee on someone who is 5'4" (163 cm).
